Antique Doroksh Rug 2.06x1.30m
A very interesting late Nineteenth Century antique rug from Doroksh, Khorassan Province (N.E. Persia/Iran).
The field pattern shows an infinite repeating theme of botehs captured within a boteh border. This boteh field arrangement is highly complex by a weaver of serious skill.
This Doroksh Rug has a wool pile, hand-knotted onto a cotton double-weft foundation.
The pile is low in places and there is an ancient patch-repair (from a very similar Doroksh Rug) on one end (see image 9 below).
