Fine Persian Sharibaft Carpet 4.06x3.25m
This is an immensely heavy quality Persian Carpet. It combines a ridged, sturdy weave along with fine, intricate knotting.
Sharibaft/Shahrbaft Carpets are made in the city of Hamadan, West Iran. These carpets differ in construction from the rugs made in the villages surrounding Hamadan; these are curvilinear in pattern and double weft weave, whilst the village weaves are (generally) geometric pattern and single weft weave.
This Persian Sharibaft Carpet has a thick wool pile (approx 12mm thick) formed by knots (hand) tied onto cotton warps, with a double weft construction.
